It is a strong collector used in the flotation process of various nonferrous metallic sulfides, highly selective for sulfide ores but with weak collective power for pyrites. The compound is highly soluble in benzene, petroleum ether, alcohol, ethyl ether, and other solvents. It is particularly effective in the flotation circuits of copper-molybdenum or copper-gold ores and works well under alkaline conditions, especially in the separation of highly oxidized ores. Compared to xanthates, it has better frothing ability and requires lower dosages.
